Ruthie Foster has always known music. Determined to see the world, she joined the Navy, singing in the Navy Choir and the recruitment group, Pride, along the way. Upon leaving the service, Ruthie felt drawn to roots and blues, instead of the predictable pop music of the time. Moving back home, she wrote and played folk clubs before putting out her first album in 1997.

Almost 20 years later, Ruthie Foster's astonishing voice continues to take her on an amazing ride. She has collaborated with Bonnie Raitt, The Allman Brothers and The Blind Boys of Alabama. Three of her albums have Grammy nominations for "Best Contemporary Blues". She?s been known to "burn down any stage with her combustible blend of soul, blues, rock, folk and gospel."
